America’s Rifle
The AR is America’s Rifle because it is so versatile. It is reliable, fairly lightweight and easy to safely handle, has a low recoil to power ratio, and is customizable to any almost any mission.
AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle, Model 15, after the company that first produced this iconic machine. AR has never stood for Automatic Rifle or Assault Rifle. These are names given by people who don’t understand weaponry and are trying to attach scary sounding words or action to inanimate objects. Do some research and don’t rely on what you hear from politicians or Hollywood.
“All the people constitute the militia – according to the Founding Fathers. Therefore every able-bodied man has a duty under the Constitution to become part of the ‘well-regulated’ militia, specifically to understand and perform well with the individual weapon currently issued to the regular establishment …. Thus one who has not qualified himself with the M-16 may not be considered to be a responsible citizen.” Col. Jeff Cooper (May 10, 1920 – September 25, 2006)
